Bryan, Texas -- The women's golf team is tied for fourth place after the first round of the Verizon Mo Morial Invitational at Briarcrest Country Club with a score of 323.
Ohio State University leads all teams with a 307 first-round score. Texas Christian University and Michigan State are in second and third with 315 and 317, respectively. Missouri is tied with Indiana and host Texas A&M.
Freshman Mindy Bullard leads the Tigers individually with a 78 in the first 18 holes, and Tara Jacobsen follows with 79.
"The course is playing really tough," head coach Stephanie Cooper said. "Not many people broke 80."
The 18 teams in the invitational will only play two total rounds because of frost on the course that held Monday's play to one round. The second and final round begins tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. CST.
"Mindy and Tara really kept it together -- they played pretty smart," Cooper said. "We're in a very good position."
