The University of Missouri women's golf team is in tenth place after the first round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic in Austin, Texas. The Tigers shot a 323 in the opening round. The teams began the second round but play was stopped due to cold and rainy weather. They will finish round two tomorrow before beginning third round play.
Missouri junior Elin Ohlsson led the Tigers, shooting a two-over par 73 in the first round. Ohlsson tied for the second best score of the day. Only Janice Olivencia of Texas was better, carding a 68.
Senior Nisha Sadekar shot 78 and is tied for 20th and freshman Maria Ohlsson finished with an 85. Sophomore Tara Jacobson and freshman Mindy Bullard shot 87 and 89 respectively to give the Tigers the 323 total for the first round.
"I am pleased with how we preformed today," Missouri Head Coach Stephanie Cooper said. "The conditions were difficult to play in. The cold and wet weather made the course tough to play, but we hung in there and were able to play well considering those conditions."
Seven of the top ten teams in the nation are in the tournament, which is led by Duke, which shot a 297 on the day.
