Texas Hands Missouri A 15-0 Setback

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Texas's Brad Halsey struck out a career-best 13 and allowed only two hits as the Longhorns recorded a 15-0 victory in Friday's Big 12 Conference game at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
Texas took advantage of three Missouri errors to take a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Longhorns scored three runs in the fourth inning to chase starter Justin James and take a 7-0 lead. Derek Roper came in relief that frame, retiring the lone batter he faced that frame and blanked the Longhorns for three straight innings.
Texas scored seven times in the eighth inning to take a 14-0 lead. Jeff Ontiveros hit a grand slam in the frame to provide the big blow.
Missouri got singles from Ryan Rothford in the third inning and Jody Roughton in the seventh inning.
Jayce Tingler saw his 14-game hit streak fall as he was 0-4 in the game.
The Tigers fall to 7-9 overall and 0-4 in the Big 12. Texas is now 18-6 overall and 3-4.
Game two of the series will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
