NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma used a pair of four-run innings to go with a seven-run eighth inning to defeat Missouri, 16-10, in Big 12 Conference action Sunday at L.Dale Mitchell Park.
Missouri got things rolling early by scoring four runs in the second inning. After one out, Missouri's Chris Julo doubled to right-center field to give the Tigers their first hit of the game. With the hit-and-run play on, Julo came around to score on a single to right field by Brent Lacy. Luke Cassis reached on a fielder's choice before Jayce Tingler was hit by a pitch. Ryan Rallo loaded the bases when he reached on an infield single. Jody Roughton then delivered a single to right field to score Cassis and Tingler. The Sooners answered Missouri's second-inning outburst with a four-run frame of their own to tie the contest. Eddie Cornejo's two-run single was the inning's big hit.
Oklahoma plated four runs in the fourth, again using four hits. A two-out double to right field by Jason Fransz scored three runs and broke the 4-4 tie.
After Tingler led off the sixth inning by being hit by a pitch, Ryan Rallo deposited a 3-2 pitch over the left-field wall for his first home run of the season and make the score, 8-6. OU took advantage of a Missouri error in the seventh inning to take a 9-6 lead after seven innings. The Sooners also got a double and a sacrifice fly in that frame.
Tingler extended his hit streak to 12 games with a single to lead off the eighth inning. After an out, Roughton hit the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to bring Missouri within one run, 9-8.
