Columbia, Mo. - Ten University of Missouri football student-athletes have been named to the Associated Press 2002 All-Big 12 team, as announced today.
Missouri was represented on the first team by senior standout wide receiver Justin Gage. Gage set eight different game, season and career receiving school records this season, and left as the alltime leading receiver in MU and Big 12 Conference history, with 200 catches for 2,704 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was a first-team selection each of his last two seasons.
Two Tigers were named to the media's second team, including senior defensive lineman Keith Wright and junior offensive tackle Rob Droege.
Seven more Tigers earned honorable mention all-league status. Those so honored included: senior defensive end Antwaun Bynum, record-setting redshirt freshman quarterback Brad Smith (as both a quarterback and all-purpose player), junior center A.J. Ricker, junior placekicker Michael Matheny, sophomore linebacker James Kinney, senior linebacker Sean Doyle and sophomore punter Brock Harvey.
Smith was earlier in the day named the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
