Baton Rouge, La. -- Junior Russ Bell picked up All-American honors Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships when he placed ninth in the men's hammer with his throw of 206 feet, three inches.
"I had two goals today," Bell said. "I wanted to get All-American and I wanted to get to finals, and I did both those things so I'm pleased."
The All-American honor is his third at Missouri.
Bell's teammate, senior Micah Shanks, placed 18th with a mark of 196-11.
"I'm pleased with how I did," Shanks said. "I am happy with my performance."
Bell will also compete in the discus and shot put at the NCAA meet.
"I was ranked 15th in the hammer and I finished ninth," Bell said. "If I can do that in the other events, that'd be great."
