COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri freshman Katka Sevcikova has been selected as the Central Region Rookie of the Year. Sevcikova was 11-12 during the spring season including four impressive victories over regional opponents. She also teamed with Urska Juric to go 12-9 in doubles play.

Last month Sevcikova and Juric were named to the All-Big 12 Doubles team and last fall the duo won the Central Regional Indoor Doubles Championship and advanced to the National Tournament.

"Anyone who saw Katka play this year knows exactly why she received this honor," MU Coach Blake Starkey said. "We are very proud of her for this and look for more good things to come from her in the future here at Mizzou."
