Missouri Director of Athletics Mike Alden:
"Just look at the impact he made on the University of Missouri and on football in general. In his own way, he was one of the great representatives of the University of Missouri and the state of Missouri. He cared about Mizzou, Columbia and the state. His kids won, not only on the field, but also in the classroom and in life. His legacy will live forever at Mizzou. We certainly lost a great friend of the institution."
Missouri Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel:
"We are sorry to hear of the passing of Coach Devine. Certainly, he was a man of character and a great football coach."
University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor Richard Wallace:
"I join with the entire Mizzou family in expressing our deep sadness for the loss of Dan Devine. He was, indeed, one of the great football coaches in history, but he was also an outstanding athletic administrator and friend of Mizzou. In his years at the University, he served as mentor and teacher to thousands of student athletes, but he also served as an inspiration to generations of Tiger fans. He will be sorely missed."
