Former Tiger Stegall Earns Honor

Former Missouri Tiger Ryan Stegall was named the Michigan Battle Cats' Defensive Player of the Month for April. The winners are selected by the coaching staff of each team in the Houston Astros organization. Stegall, who is hitting .264 this season with five doubles in 21 games, was named for his play at shortstop.

Stegall played for Missouri in the 1999, 2000 and 2001 seasons and ranks among the Missouri career leaders in doubles (47), home runs (35), runs batted in (151), extra base hits (91) and saves (18).

Stegall was drafted by Houston in the seventh round of the 2001 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
