Tigers Set School Records at College Station Relays

College Station, Texas -- The Missouri men's throwers had a record-setting day at the College Station Relays.

Junior Christian Cantwell tied Missouri's outdoor record in the shot put with his event-winning throw of 64-8. Cantwell's mark automatically qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Junior Russ Bell placed third (58-4) and senior Micah Shanks placed ninth (51-10).

Bell's winning performance in the hammer throw (204-5) sets the school record and is a provisional qualifying mark. Shanks finished right behind Bell with his throw of 199-7.

Bell also provisionally qualified in the discus with his throw of 193-4. It was a personal best for the Jefferson City, Mo., native. Cantwell placed third in the event with his mark of 180-1.

Sophomore Gary File made his outdoor season debut as well. File was seventh in the javelin with a mark of 200-11.
