Katy, Texas - The University of Missouri men's golf team opened its 2002 spring campaign with a solid 5th-place finish at the Rice Intercollegiate which wrapped up today at Meadowbrook Farms Country Club in Katy, Texas.
Missouri entered the day tied for 2nd, but slipped to 5th after Tuesday's final round, despite a solid team score of 295.
Individually, senior Mark McBride led the way for Missouri, with a 7th-place finish. McBride (Lebanon, Mo.) fired a one-under par 71 Tuesday and finished with a three-round total of 217. He was just four shots back of co-champs Adam Meyer of Baylor and David Skinns of Tennessee, who came in at 214.
Freshman Ben Scott (Lancashire, United Kingdom) earned a top-15 finish as he finished 12th with a three-round total of 221. Scott shot a one-over 73 Tuesday.
Rounding out the Tiger lineup were sophomore Brandon Knaub (Seven Valleys, Pa.), who tied for 32nd place, junior Chris Happ (Winnetka, Ill.), who finished 49th, and Michael Radek (Chicago, Ill.), who tied for 50th.
