She is one of the newest Tigers from Farmington, Mo. No her hometown is not as small as it sounds (pop. 15,000) and yes, her favorite food is pickles. Freshman middle blocker Lisa Boyd talked with assistant media relations director Sam Fleury in this weeks Meet-a-Tiger Volleyball Profile.
SF: What is your favorite food? LB: Pickles
SF: What is your favorite color? LB: Green, which explains the love for pickles.
SF: I know that you listed scrap booking as one of your hobbies in the media guide. What exactly is scrap booking? LB:In Farmington, we were front page news most of the time so I would cut the articles out and put them in a scrap book or cut the pictures up and make collages. I love to organize.
SF: What is your major? LB: Right now it Physical Therapy, but I am thinking about going into ultrasound.
SF:What do you hope to accomplish while you are here at Mizzou? LB:I want to become a better player and receive a quality education and do a good job.
SF: Sand volleyball or hard court volleyball? LB:Sand volleyball for fun, hard court for competition.
SF:What other sports do you enjoy playing besides volleyball? LB: I like track. I like running hurdles, and basketball is ok.
SF: If you had to choose a back-up number (her number is #8), what would it be and it why?" LB: The number four has always been my number.
SF:If you weren't playing volleyball at Mizzou, what would you be doing? LB:I would be running track or playing basketball at a junior college somewhere.
SF:Who is the funniest individual on the team?LB: "Krista Johnson" (KJ)
SF: Who is the most serious or most intense?" LB:Naaron (Branson)
SF: Who is the most famous person you have ever met? LB: Dan Rudiger (the guy that the movie "Rudy" is based on.)
SF: What is your favorite pre-match meal? LB: Chicken Fetuccini and pickles.
SF:What has been your favorite aspect about Mizzou so far? LB:The people and the girls on the team.
SF: Have you ever had the desire to play a different position other than middle blocker? LB: I have always wanted to be a setter. I think that every middle has or wants to be a setter at sometime during their career. SF:Why is that? LB: Its just a different position and a different skill to learn.
SF: Do you have any siblings? LB: I have three sisters and one brother SF: Are you the youngest? LB: Yes.
SF: What has been the hardest transitional element in coming to Mizzou for you? LB:It has been basically a total change in what I do. Its really hard because I have done the same thing for four years and now everything is so new. But its also kind of fun because everything I do is going to make me better so I am trying really hard. Everything has changed.
SF: What CD is in your CD player at home right now? LB:Tim McGraw.
SF: Top five songs of all-time? LB:Dirty Dancing's "I've had the time of my life," "Everything I do, I do it for you" by Brian Adams, "For the Longest Time" by Billy Joel, "American Pie" by Don McClane, and "End of the Road" by Boys to Men.
