
Oklahoma Blanks Missouri 6-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri baseball team suffered its second shutout of the season Friday, losing 6-0 Oklahoma in Big 12 Conference action at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field. The shutout was the second of the season for Missouri, which did not score in the rain-shortened opener against San Jose State. That game was a 0-0 tie after five and one-half innings. The last time Missouri did not score was in a 3-0 loss to Kansas on March 24 last season.
The Sooners opened an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Greg Dodds' two-run home run highlighted inning, which saw OU have five consecutive hits.
Missouri had two hits against OU starter Rocky Cherry. The hits were a single by Kurt Propst to open the fifth inning and a one-out single by Luke Cassis in the eighth. Cherry pitched eight innings and improved to 6-3 on the season.
Oklahoma, which improves to 12-22 overall and 6-10 in league play, added single runs in the fifth and eighth innings to provide the final margin.
Missouri, which falls to 20-12-1 overall and 7-9 in the Big 12, had the bases loaded in the ninth inning with two outs but had a batter strike out to end the game.
The two teams meet Saturday at 2 p.m.
