Bell Wins Hammer Throw At San Diego State

SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Russ Bell took first place in the hammer throw at the San Diego State Aztec Classic here Saturday evening.
Bell won the hammer throw for the second week in a row and threw a season-high 187-5 at the SDSU meet en route to the victory. He also finished third in the discus (177-5).
Also in action for the Tigers was freshman Gary File, who threw 192-1 in the javelin for third place and senior Darrell Meinke, who placed eighth and posted a 148-1 in the discus.
The MU track and field team is in action next weekend in the Stanford Invitational Mar. 31.
