
Cowboys Edge Tigers 5-4 In 10 Innings

STILLWATER, Okla. - The University of Missouri baseball team suffered its fourth-straight loss Monday, dropping a 5-4 decision in 10 innings in Big 12 Conference play against Oklahoma State at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The loss drops MU to 3-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the Big 12. The nationally ranked Cowboys improve to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the first inning as leadoff man Jayce Tingler reached on a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Jon Williams singled into right field to score Tingler and give Mizzou its first lead in the three-game series.
Oklahoma State tied the game at one in the second inning with a home run by Paul Powell. The Cowboys took a 2-1 lead with back-to-back doubles in the third inning by Jimbo McAuliff and Brian Kraft.
MU tied the game in the top half of the fifth frame. Tingler was hit by a pitch and went to third base on a single by W.T. Hoover. Ryan Stegall grounded out to third base to score Tingler and even the score at two.
The Tigers got a leadoff double from Mick Weiss to chase OSU starter Scott Baker. Weiss went to third on an infield out and scored on a wild pitch on a walk to Kurt Propst. Propst would come around to score on a double by Cody Ehlers. The hit, which gave MU a 4-2 lead, was the first-ever collegiate hit for Ehlers, a native of Stillwater, Okla.
OSU answered with a pair of runs in its half of the sixth as the Cowboys used three hits and a stolen base to tie the score.
The Cowboys won the game 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th as Luke Scott homered to right field on the first pitch of the frame.
The Tigers are scheduled to meet Lincoln (Mo.) Tuesday at 4 p.m. before returning to Big 12 play at Baylor Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
