
New Poll has Missouri No. 14

Coming off a season opening victory over Illinois last Friday, the University of Missouri wrestling team has moved from No. 21 in the nation to No. 14 according to the polls released by Intermat on Wednesday. Illinois, previously the No. 9 ranked team, dropped to No. 15 in the new rankings.
The Big 12 continues to crowd the top of the polls. Oklahoma State is ranked No. 2, followed by Oklahoma at No. 3, Iowa State at No. 6 and Nebraska at No. 9.
Five Tiger wrestlers were also ranked in their respective weight classes. Junior Mark Bader is ranked No. 14 in the 125-pound class moving up from No. 16. Sophomore Jeremy Spates remains at No. 11 in the 149-pound class and senior John Kopnisky is No. 9 at 174 pounds. Sophomore Scott Barker moves from No. 15 to No. 11 in the 197-pound weight class and Kevin Herron is now No. 19 among heavyweights.
J.P. Reese, Jon Sioredas and Tyron Woodley were also mentioned in the rankings but did not crack the top 20.
The Tigers host the 2nd Annual Missouri Open on Sunday. Over 20 teams and 400 wrestlers are expected in the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse for the event. The next dual for Missouri is on Dec. 7 against Indiana in the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.
