Swim And Diving Teams Back In Action This Weekend

TIGERS BACK IN ACTION:
Both the Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in action this weekend. The men travel to Champaign, Ill. for the two-day Illini Fall Classic. The women's team will be involved in two meets this weekend. Head Coach Brian Hoffer will take half of the team to Houston, Texas for the Continental Airlines Classic hosted by Rice University while Assistant Coach Anne Kampfe will coach the rest of the troops at the Illini Fall Classic. Both meets begin on Friday morning and will run through Saturday night.

CONTINENTAL AIRLINES CLASSIC:
Coach Brian Hoffer will take 10 swimmers to Houston, Texas this weekend for the Continental Airlines Classic at Rice University. The Tigers have an excellent opportunity this weekend to catch some national attention. Opponents this weekend include four preseason nationally-ranked schools that include California-Berkeley, Penn State, Virginia and Rice. The University of Washington will also compete this weekend. To match-up with the competition, Hoffer will bring most his top athletes to Houston. Tentatively, Hoffer is bringing the following swimmers: Tiffany Bohon, Tara Brooks, Katy Chandler, Mariona Costa, Becca Dawson, Chrissy Frieh, Lizza Igoe, Sarah Lo, Andrea Nigh and Rebecca Wolfe.

ILLINI FALL CLASSIC:
The depth of the women's team will be put to the test this weekend as the other half of the Missouri roster travels to Champaign, Ill. for the Illini Fall Classic. Missouri's opponents include Illinois, Illinois State, Southern Illinois and the women's divers of Northern Illinois. The Mizzou women will be led by Big 12 finalists Ellen Cross, Leslie Hoh, Sarah Stowe and Molly Vetter. The Tigers will also get a good look at talented freshmen Amanda Morford, Lindsay Palbykin and Belinda Wood. Other swimmers at the Illini Fall Classic include Molly Christensen, Shannon Hollsten, Megan Morford and Jessica Shaw. Diving will also play a big role this weekend in Champaign. All four divers - Erin Wilke, Amanda Maret, Anna Massey and Sarah Sprigg will travel to Illinois this weekend.

MIZZOU MEN READY FOR ILLINOIS FALL CLASSIC:
The Missouri men return to competition this weekend after a two-week layoff. The Tigers will take on Southern Illinois and Northern Illinois. Mizzou's men were last in action on Oct. 19 and 20th. The Tigers finished in third place at the Big 12 Relay Meet and were defeated the next day by nationally-ranked Texas A&M by a score of 169.5-118.5.
