Nov. 1, 2001

DALLAS -- Senior Ann Marie Brooks' sixth-place finish at the Big 12 Cross Country meet Oct. 27 was not only her highest finish ever at the annual event, but it earned her something more. Brooks, along with eight others, received All-Big 12 Cross Country honors, the league office announced Wednesday.

All-Big 12 recognition goes to the top nine finishers at the conference championships. Brooks, a native of St. Joseph, Mo., finished the 6K at the conference meet in Norman, Okla. in a time of 21:05.1.

This is the first time Brooks has received all-conference honors in cross country. Last year Brooks placed 11th at the meet, 27th in 1999 and 10th in 1998.

Other All-Big 12 selections for the women were Big 12 champion Molly Austin of Colorado (20:12.5), Siri Alfheim of Oklahoma State (20:22.4), Amy Mortimer of Colorado (20:27.5), Jodie Hughes of Colorado (20:49.5), Tera Moody of Colorado (20:58.8), Ann Gaffigan of Nebraska (21:10.5), Marie Nilsson of Oklahoma State (21:17.5), and Amanda Behnke of Kansas State (21:18.2).
