Stanford, Calif. - The University of Missouri men's golf team shot a team round of 285 Friday at Stanford Golf Course, and stands eighth after one round of play at The Nelson, held in Stanford, Calif. Tournament play continues Saturday and Sunday with 18 holes of play each day.
The Tigers are just six shots behind leader Florida Southern, which posted the low team score of round one with a 279.
MU sophomore Mike Radek led the way individually for Head Coach Tim Robyn's squad, as he shot a one-under par 70 on Friday to stand in a tie for 12th place. He is four shots behind Purdue's Lee Williamson, who fired a five-under 66 to pace the field.
One shot back of Radek is Tiger senior Mark McBride, whose even par 71 put him in a tie for 25th place, along with fellow Tiger Brandon Knaub.
Junior Chris Happ shot a two-over 73 on Friday, and stands tied for 42nd overall, while freshman Ben Scott is just one shot back in a tie for 50th after an opening-round 74.
