COLUMBIA, Mo. - A six-run eighth inning powered the Gypsies (Missouri Gold) to an 8-5 win over Bushwood Country Club (Missouri Black) Thursday night at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field in game one of baseball's Fall World Series.

Wes Fewell (Sr., Columbia) had a two-run single in the inning to lead the way for the Gypsies. Mick Weiss (Sr., St. Peters, Mo.) also drove in one run as did Chris Julo (Jr., Lee's Summit, Mo.).

Bushwood took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Jayce Tingler (Jr., Smithville, Mo.) walked, stole a base, advanced to third base on an error and scored on a groundout by Lee Laskowski (So., Clayton, Mo.). Tingler, who scored three runs on the night for Bushwood, scored again in the third inning. He reached on a bunt single and scored on a single by Laskowski.

The Gypsies scored a run in the fourth inning when Dan Bane (So., Blue Spring, Mo.) scored on a single by W.T. Hoover (Sr., Brookfield, Mo.). Bane scored again in the sixth on a squeeze bunt by Luke Cassis (Sr., Wheaton, Ill.)

Bushwood made it 5-2 with three runs in the eighth. Tingler led off the inning with a walk and went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Laskowski was hit by a pitch before Tingler scored on a passed ball. Laskowski scored on a squeeze play by Ryan Rallo (So., Chesterfield, Mo.) before Cody Ehlers (So., Stillwater, Okla.) scored on a double by Brent Lacy (Fr., Ellisville, Mo.)

In the bottom half of the eighth, Cassis was hit by a pitch and Hoover walked before a single by Jody Roughton (Jr., Carthage, Mo.) singled to load the bases with one out. Fewell singled to center to score two runs. Weiss singled to score Roughton and tie the game. Julo drove in one run before two more runs scored on an error to make it 8-5.

Matt Hobbs (Sr., Alta Loma, Calif.) picked up the win while Drew Endicott (Jr., Carthage, Mo.) suffered the loss.

The two teams will play Friday at 4 p.m.
