Columbia, Mo.-The University of Missouri softball team has reported for fall workouts and will play a 16-game fall schedule, Head Coach Jay Miller announced on Tuesday. The action picks up this Sunday, Sept. 9 at 11:30 a.m. with the Missouri Softball Annual Wheelchair Softball Demonstration and Clinic. MU softball players will integrate with wheelchair softball teams from Kansas City and St. Louis to demonstrate how people with disabilities are able to participate in sports and active recreation. The game will be played at Stankowski Field on the campus of the University of Missouri, instead of the Hearnes Center in years past. The Tigers will also host their annual Alumni Game and will welcome the likes of in-state rivals Truman State, UMKC and Southwest Missouri State to University Field during the autumn months.
Another one of the showcased events during the fall will be the Missouri Softball Charity Classic on October 6-7. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the American Cancer Society and its efforts to educate and increase awareness of the dangers and cures of the disease.
