COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri's Matt Hobbs was selected in the 30th round by the San Diego Padres during Wednesday's action of Major League Baseball's 2001 First-Year Player Draft.
Hobbs was the 900th overall pick of the draft.
A left-handed pitcher from Alta Loma, Calif., Hobbs had a team-high eight wins (8-5) to go with 55 strikeouts and a 4.06 earned-run average.
