Hils Finishes Ninth In The Steeplechase At The NCAA Track Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Sophomore Kerry Hils finished ninth in the steeplechase at the NCAA Championships here Friday evening.

Hils, who is the Big 12 Conference Champion in the steeple, posted a time of 10:08.61, which is about two seconds under her previous personal and school-record fastest time. For her efforts, she earned her second career All-American honor.

In the finals of the men's discus throw, sophomore Russ Bell came in 11th place (182-7), while fellow sophomore Christian Cantwell came in 14th place (177-0). Both men will throw in the shot put on Saturday.

After one day of competition in the heptathlon, senior Michelle Moran sits in 14th place (3144 points). Senior Eli Sommerfeldt is also in the hunt in 22nd place (2865 points).
