Women's Golf Competes in Opening Day of NCAA West Regional

Corvallis, Oregon - The University of Missouri women's golf team competed in the opening round of the NCAA West Regional at Trysting Trees Golf Course in Corvalis, Oregon on Thursday. The Tigers fired an opening round 308 putting them in 16th place in the team standings. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Tigers have qualified and played in the West Regional.

Senior Amelia Moses and freshman Tara Jacobsen are currently tied for 45th place and are the Tigers top placers after the opening round of the tourney. Both individuals registered a score of 78, just 10 shots off the lead and four shots from jumping into the Top 10. Arizona's Natalie Gulbis and Loren Ochoa finished the day in first and second respectively with opening-round scores of 68 and 70 respectively. Arizona also holds the team lead with a -1 score of 287.

Several other Tigers are still well in striking distance of the leader board after the first day of competition. Sophomore Elin Ohlsson sits in a tie for 60th place with a first-round score of 80 while senior Jamie Tucker is currently tied for 71st place with a score of 82. Junior Nisha Sadekar rounds out the Tiger scoring with an opening-day tally of 83. The second round of the Regional will tee off at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Times and pairings for Saturday's final round will not be determined until after the second round. Trysting Tree, which was rated the third-best collegiate facility on the West Coast by Golfweek Magazine in 1998, plays to 6,089 yards for the tournament and carries a par of 72.
