COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Big 12 Conference announced the University of Missouri had five student-athletes named to the 2001 Baseball Academic All-Big 12 Team.

Missouri's Mark Alexander, Logan Dale, Drew Endicott, Tony Vitello and Mick Weiss were named to the second team. Student-athletes named to the second team carry a grade-point average between 3.0 and 3.19.

Weiss, a junior first baseman, was named for the third time. Dale, a senior pitcher, was also selected in 2000.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average or higher and must have participated in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests. Pitchers must have at least appeared in 35 percent of the team's games or thrown at least one inning per game played by the team.

Missouri will face Texas A&M at 7 p.m. Thursday in game one of a three-game Big 12 Conference series at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
