Softball Takes on Texas

May 9, 2001

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Missouri Tiger softball team (30-26, 5-11 Big 12) takes on the Texas Longhorns (24-28, 5-13 Big 12) Wednesday in a 5 p.m. play-in game to see who will move on to compete in the double-elimination rounds of the Big 12 Tournament at the Don E. Porter Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. The winner of the game will then play top-seeded Nebraska at 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers split with the Longhorns during the regular season, losing the first game 3-1 but rallying to defeat Texas 6-3 in the second game.

The top six seeds in the conference are guaranteed a place in the tournament, but the lower four seeds must play a game for the final two slots in the eight-team bracket. Seventh-seeded Texas A&M faces tenth-seed Iowa State in Wednesday evening's other play-in game, also scheduled for 5 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
