Six Tiger Softball Players Earn All-Conference Honors

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Six Missouri Tiger softball players were awarded All-Big 12 honors at the pre-tournament banquet Wednesday, May 9, at the Marriott Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.

As a designated player, Melanie Fisher was selected for the all-conference second team. In league play, Fisher batted .319, including two doubles, a home run, and four runs batted in. She struck out only six times in 47 at-bats, was walked once, and was three-for-three in stolen bases.

Stephanie Falk was selected as a pitcher to the all-conference second team. On the mound, Falk notched a 1.40 earned run average in 16 appearances and 95 innings pitched. She allowed only 82 hits in 354 at bats, and struck out 65. Falk was in the top six in the league in four categories: ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts, and appearances.

Also announced at the banquet was the Academic All-Big 12 team, to which Stephanie Falk, Lindsay Jacoby, Ingrid Werner, Karen Williams, and Sara Vassmer were named. In order to qualify for the academic team, players must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in at least 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Pitchers must have at least one inning pitched per game played by the team, or have appeared in 35 percent of the team's total games. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
