Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri softball team (25-23, 4-9 Big 12) will break from conference action again this week as it travels to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to take on Southeast Missouri State.
This will be the 20th meeting between the two teams in the series, which the Tigers lead 14-5. Last year on April 20, the Otahkians defeated Mizzou 5-0.
Mizzou has won it's last three non-conference games, outscoring its opponents, 24-11. Leading hitters in those games are Karen Williams and Rachael McGinnis, who both hit .727 in 11 at bats.
In her 19th year at the helm of the Otahkian softball team, Head Coach Lana Richmond is 595-325-2, and has been named the Ohio Valley Coach of the Year four times. She takes her team into the fray with senior catcher Renee Enos and sophomore shortstop/catcher Jenny Doehring leading the charge. Enos leads the team batting average with .413, and is followed by Doehring at .316.
The doubleheader gets underway at the Southeast Softball Complex Tuesday, April 24. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
