Missouri Wins 20th Game

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The University of Missouri baseball team won its 20th game of the season Tuesday night, downing Southeast Missouri State 7-2 at Capaha Field. The Tigers, who are ranked 34th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, used single runs in the first, second, third to take an early lead and roll to the victory.

With two outs in the first inning, Missouri's Ryan Stegall reached on an error. He stole second base before Mick Weiss walked. The two executed a double steal and when the throw went to second base, Stegall scored to give MU a 1-0 lead.

Kurt Propst walked in the second inning. He moved to second on a balk before scoring on a single to left field by Jayce Tingler. The single by Tingler extended his hit streak to 11 games.

Lee Laskowski continued his torrid hitting with a single in the third inning. Wes Fewell tripled to score Laskowski and give Missouri a 3-0 lead after three frames.

Southeast Missouri scored two runs in the third inning to make it 3-2, Mizzou.

Missouri led off the fifth inning with a double by Weiss. Laskowski walked before Fewell doubled to score Weiss. After a walk to Propst, W.T. Hoover drove in Laskowski and Fewell to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead.

The Tigers used a walk and a stolen base by Tingler and a single by Williams to take a 7-2 lead. MU stole a season-high six bases in the win.

Matt Hobbs improved to 6-2 with the victory. He got help in relief by Logan Dale and Pete Sansone.

Williams and Fewell each finished with two hits for MU. Stegall, Weiss and Tingler each stole two bases as the Tigers stole a season-high six bases on the night.

The Tigers improve to 20-11-1 while Southeast Missouri falls to 19-10. Missouri meets Oklahoma in a weekend series this Friday-Saturday-Sunday at Taylor Stadium.
