Columbia, Mo. - The Big 12 Conference named freshman Rachael McGinnis player of the week March 26-April 1. McGinnis starts at third base and bats fourth in the line-up, and is filling the clean-up position like a seasoned pro. Starting in all four games of the spring trip, she was 10-14 (.714) on the week, including three doubles, and also recorded one homerun against Texas-San Antonio (her second of the season), while scoring seven runs for the Tigers. She earned 16 total bases, giving her a slugging percentage of 1.143. She walked once, hit one successful sacrifice fly, and stole two bases offensively. In the field, she had a perfect fielding percentage with six assists and three putouts.
McGinnis is currently third on the team in batting average, hitting .378 (48-127), including six doubles, three triples, and two homeruns. She is second on the team in slugging percentage at .509, and has registered a .942 fielding percentage.
