MU Tennis Faces California Teams

The University of Missouri tennis team heads to California to face Cal State Northridge Thursday and Cal State Fullerton Friday.

Recent Action: The Tigers downed Washington (Mo.) University this past weekend (3/24) by a 6-1 decision. The loss was the first of the year for the Bears while the Tigers improved to 10-5.

10 Wins and ... : Missouri has won 10 matches for the second time in school history. The 1999 Tigers won 10 matches to set the school record.

If: If Missouri would win either match (or both) this weekend, the Tigers will establish a record for most wins in a season.

Opponents: Cal State Northridge, a member of the Big Sky Conference, has dropped a pair of matches to Big 12 members Nebraska and Iowa State this season. The Matadors are 14-3 this season. Cal State Fullerton, a member of the Big West Conference, is 2-9 but the Titans have five matches before meeting the Tigers.

Head Coach: The Tigers are under the direction of Blake Starkey. Starkey, an 1989 Eastern Kentucky graduate, is in his fourth season at Missouri.

Next: Once April hits, the Tigers will close the season with six consecutive home matches. The homestand starts on April 4 against Oklahoma State.
