March 24, 2001

COLUMBIA, Mo.- Missouri swimmer Matt Ferrarelli's season came to an end on Saturday at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas. Ferrarelli finished 30th in the preliminaries of the 200 backstroke, his third and final race of the weekend. Ferrarelli did post a season's best time 1:47.94. The sophomore was unable to score at the meet, but he will have two more years to accomplish that feat.

"Matt got better with each race this weekend,"Head Coach Brian Hoffer said. "He had his best prelim swim of the year in the 400 IM yesterday and put together a solid backstroke today. It was a learning experience this weekend and we have two more years to keep moving up."

Ferrarelli finishes the season as the Big 12 Champion in the 400 individual medley. He won all but three dual meet races on the season and became Missouri's first NCAA qualifier since the 1997 season.
