Women's Distance Medley Relay Team Wins The National Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Missouri women's distance medley relay team won the NCAA Championship here Friday evening.

The DMR team made up of seniors Ashley Wysong and Sunny Gilbert, junior Ann Marie Brooks and sophomore Kerry Hils took first place in a school record 11:06.77. The team, which is also the Big 12 Conference Champion, held the previous record time of 11:12.81 set at the Big 12 Championships Feb. 24. Wysong also qualified for tomorrow's final in the 800-meter run (2:09.23), while Brooks will run in the 3000m tomorrow.

Sophomore thrower Christian Cantwell finished ninth in the weight throw(68-1). He will compete in the shot put tomorrow.

Day two of competition resumes tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. with the women's weight throw.
