Clarence Gilbert Reinstated to Basketball Team

Feb. 13, 2001

Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri junior guard Clarence Gilbert has been reinstated to the men's basketball team, as announced today by Head Coach Quin Snyder.

Gilbert, the fourth-leading scorer in the Big 12 Conference with a 17.0-per game average, returned to practice Tuesday afternoon and will be available for action tomorrow evening against Colorado.

"I'm very pleased with how Clarence handled himself during this period," said Snyder. "He's demonstrated to me that he's ready to be the player his team needs, and we certainly welcome him back. He was excited to rejoin his teammates, and I know they were eager to get him back," said Snyder.

"I'm excited to be back," said Gilbert. "I'm ready to do anything my teammates need me to do. I trust in the coaching staff and my teammates, and I plan to use this adversity to make myself better," he said.

Missouri (15-8 overall, 6-4 in Big 12 Conference play) begins its stretch run by hosting Colorado (15-9, 5-6) Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Hearnes Center. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or by visiting the Hearnes Center Box Office.
