Mizzou Soccer Defeats Oklahoma

Sept. 24, 2000

Norman, Okla.-The University of Missouri boosts its season record to 6-4 with a 2-0 mark in the Big 12 Conference after trampling Oklahoma 1-0 today. The Tigers took 13 shots, including seven on goal, while keeping the Sooners to just 10 shots and four shots on goal.

Freshman Adriene Davis and Nikki Thole once again paired up for Mizzou's game winner. After battling through a scoreless first half, the Tigers earned its only goal in the first two minutes of the second. Thole lined up a cross from the outer right corner of the box and Davis masterfully launched the shot into the lower left corner of the net. The goal is Davis' fifth of the season and sets Thole as the team assist leader with five.

Shining on the defensive line was Colorado native Suzy Probst. The sophomore made two team saves keeping the Tigers in the game. She skillfully deflected a shot taken off of a cornerkick. Goalkeeper Megan Duncan blocked a shot taken from the cross, but before she could reposition for another save a Sooner forward took aim. She was stopped however when Probst deflected the ball with a header. In Probst's second save of the game, an Oklahoma forward lured Duncan from the box then dribbled the ball around her for the shot. Probst slid into the box redirecting the ball with her abdomen for the save.

The game brings Duncan to a 2-2 record and earns her second shutout of the season. She is 2-0 in Big 12 Conference
