Stillwater, Okla.-The University of Missouri is 5-4 and 1-0 in the Big 12 Conference opening league play with a 2-0 shutout over Oklahoma State. The Tigers dominated the game outshooting the Cowgirls 16 to 10. The MU defense kept OSU from taking even a single shot until 39:42 in the first half. They also kept OSU to just three shots on goal in the game.
Missouri scored early in the match posting a point in under four minutes. Midfielder Steph Brennan dribbled the ball into the right top corner of the field and sent in a cross. Senior Jennifer McMaster collected the ball for a one touch pass to send it into scoring range where senior Amy Timmermann took it to goal.
Brennan came back to score the second goal of the game. Senior Nikki Thole lured the keeper from the box and sent in a quick pass to Brennan for the shot, her second of the season.
Freshman Megan Duncan also earned her first shutout of the season. She played the entire 90 minutes in the game and made three saves. The win brings her to 1-2.
The Tigers resume Big 12 Conference play on Sun., Sept. 24 at 12:00 p.m., when they take-on Oklahoma.
