Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri Department of Athletics has sold all the private suites available in the new press box facility at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field, Director of Athletics Mike Alden announced today. Thirty-two private suites have been leased for a five-year period, placing MU in elite company as one of the few college stadiums that have sold out their private suites in the first year.
"Selling out our private suite seating really shows that the level of commitment to Missouri Tiger Athletics is very high," Alden said. "We could not be more pleased with the progress of the project and we are anxiously awaiting the start of a great Missouri football season."
The $13.1 million construction project will be completely funded by the sales of the private suites, paying off the construction bond over a ten-year period. No monies from the Athletic Department's operating budget or general ticket sales funds will be used to finance the expansion.
The new facility, which is triple the size of the previous press box, includes a sold out Tiger Lounge with 418 club seats, 35 private suites, and 147 working press positions. Individual suites were reserved for MU's Department of Athletics, the visiting team's Athletic Department and a suite to be sold on a game-by-game basis. The remaining 32 private suites are now sold out at an average price of $37,000 per season.
The 2000 Missouri football season opens Sept. 2 when the Tigers host Western Illinois at 6:30 p.m. Season tickets are still available by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or 884-PAWS locally.
