Columbia, Mo. - Many teams had quality classes this season but overall it appears a sub-par year for recruiting. Many of the top teams never recruited real strong this season hoping that they can cash in on the outstanding class of recruit coming out next season. There is still a few top recruits that haven't signed and a few transfer possibilities that could have an impact on the final rankings.
Given all the factors and criteria which is listed below, InterMat's 2000 Top Recruiting Class goes to Northern Iowa. They signed by far the best quantity and had pretty good quality, and Rankings are based on the teams ability to sign wrestlers that meet the following criteria: Meeting team needs, impact wrestlers, overall quality and quantity.
The first set of numbers behind schools represents the rankings of the individuals that the school signed. (SM - Special Mention, HM - Honorable Mention, ET - Elite Transfer, TT - Top Transfer). The second set of numbers identify the number of impact wrestlers, "All-American caliber" wrestlers and top notch wrestlers.
Definitions: Impact - High probability of high All-American honor in first 2-3 years All-American caliber - Should be a high All-American before graduating Top Notch - two to four year starter maybe a low All-American later in career.
