
Former Tiger Derrick Peterson Inducted Into MTCCCA Hall Of Fame

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former University of Missouri track All-American and NCAA Champion Derrick Peterson was inducted into the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame Fri., Dec. 8.
Peterson is the American collegiate record holder in the 800m. He was ranked fourth in the world in 1999 and is a seven-time Big 12 Champion in the 800. Peterson was a five-time All-American, 15-time All-Big 12 and three-time champion of the prestigious Drake Relays. He also qualified for the 2000 Olympics Trials in the 800-meter run.
Peterson holds Missouri school records in the 800m (1:45.88), the distance medley relay (9:41.06) and the 1600m relay (3:09.53).
He was a World University Games gold medallist as a member of the USA 1,600m relay team and also won a bronze medal in 800m run at the World Games.
Peterson joins MU track Head Coach Rick McGuire, who was inducted in 1999, in the MTCCCA Hall of Fame.
"This is a great accomplishment for Derrick and it is the first of many hall of fame inductions for him," said McGuire. "Derrick is a wonderful individual and I am extremely honored to have coached him during his college career."
