Tigers Fall to Baylor in Overtime

San Antonio, Texas--The University of Missouri rounds out the 2000 season with a 10-10 record after losing a heated 4-3 overtime match to Baylor. The Bears only out shot the Tigers 22-17, while both teams ripped off 12 shots on goal.

MU started the scoring spree in the 21st minute when All-American Nikki Thole cranked one into the net. Midfielder Steph Brennan sent a pass to forward Jennifer McMaster who one touched it to Thole for a seven-yard shot.

The Tigers held the lead into the 45th minute when Whitney Barrett put the Bears on the board with a hat trick from midfield that sailed over Mizzou goalkeeper Stephanie Krawczyk's reach.

Missouri didn't waste any time trying to reposition itself as the game leader, Brennan dished out a pass to senior Amy Timmermann who took the ball to goal. Baylor answered right back tying the score 2-2 just 12 seconds later on a goal by Alyson Miles.

The game battled until Thole squared another into the Baylor net to give MU a 3-2 lead. She took a lob from Dyana Russell through the Bear defense for the score. She retires as Missouri's all-time leading scorer with 61 goals and 151 points.

The Tigers were unable to hold onto their lead however, giving up the tying goal with just 25 seconds to go in the match. Baylor's Cookie Day sent in a corner kick that Gina Castellano headed in for the 3-3 tie. The Bears claimed the victory in the 98th minute of sudden death play on a shot by Molly Cameron.

Krawczyk played the entire 98:50 minutes of the game. She allowed four goals and recorded eight saves against the Bears.
