Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri men's and women's basketball teams held scrimmages tonight in conjunction with the annual Hearnes Haunted House of Hoops.
An estimated crowd of 5,500 watched as the Tiger women led off the evening. Senior center Pep Williams led all scorers with 10 points on the evening, and added two rebounds. Sophomore forward Wannette Smith scored eight points, as did freshman forward Tracy Lozier, and sophomore guard Karensa Barr added seven points to highlight the top scorers. Freshman center Amy Loftus led all rebounders with seven.
2000 Big 12 Newcomer-of-the-Year Amanda Lassiter was held out of the scrimmage tonight due to a hamstring injury suffered in practice.
The Tiger men capped off the evening's festivites. Junior guard Clarence Gilbert led all scorers with 11 points, and added five rebounds. Sophomore forward Kareem Rush added nine points and five rebounds, while seniors Johnnie Parker and T.J. Soyoye and freshman Rickey Paulding added six points apiece. Freshman center Arthur Johnson had a game-high eight rebounds, while Parker added seven. Senior guard Brian Grawer was held scoreless, but he contributed a game-high four assists.
Sophomore guard Josh Kroenke did not play in tonight's scrimmage. He was held out of action after receiving a concussion in practice last week. He will be held of full contact for one more week, and will be re-evaluated after that time.
