Columbia, Mo.--The University of Missouri women's soccer team is 9-9 (4-5 in the Big 12 Conference) after downing Loyola-Chicago in a 5-1 contest today. The Tigers out shot the Ramblers 25-6 and pounded their goal with 14 net shots.
Freshman Melissa McLellan posted Mizzou on the board 27 minutes into the game. Midfielder Amy Timmermann crossed a pass to Nikki Thole who took a wide shot to the far right goal post where McLellan dropped it in for the score.
Freshman Adriene Davis claimed her eighth goal of the season just seven minutes later when she slammed a cross intended for Thole into the left top corner of the Rambler's net.
Timmermann came back to score two unassisted goals in the game to best the contest with five points. On her first goal, she collected a Tiger shot that was blocked by a Loyola defender and tapped the ball past the goal line. She also capitalized on a wide angled shot sailed past the Rambler goalkeeper.
Senior All-American Nikki Thole also scored her eighth goal of the year in the game. Forward Jennifer McMaster delivered a cross that Thole headed in. The score boosts her to lead the Tigers with 23 season points including seven assists.
Goalkeeper Stephanie Krawczyk started the game for Mizzou to defend 54:42 minutes of scoreless play. She was only forced to make one save in the game. Freshman Carey Patton played the remaining 34:18 minutes. She allowed one goal and made one save.
The Tigers round out the regular season with a conference game against Kansas Fri., Oct. 27 at 4:00 p.m.
