Mizzou Madness Tips Off Men's Basketball Season Tonight!!

Columbia, Mo. - For the second-straight year, the University of Missouri men's basketball team will get its season underway with Mizzou Madness event. This year's version is set for tonight (Friday, Oct. 13th), just prior to tomorrow's Homecoming football game vs. Kansas.

Doors to the Hearnes Center will open at 10:00 p.m. Numerous promotions and contests will take place beginning at 11:00, in addition to appearances from the Golden Girls, the MU Cheer Squads, Truman the Tiger and Mini Mizzou.

Coach Quin Snyder will adress the crowd at approximately 11:35 p.m. Then, at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday the 14th, the 2000-01 season officially begins, and the Tigers will take the court for their first practice of the year. Quin Snyder's crew, which has been ranked in the top-25 by numerous pre-season polls, will hold an intrasquad scrimmage. Plans are for the Tigers to play two ten-minute periods. A three-point shooting contest will be held at halftime of the scrimmage.

Tickets for the event cost $1 at the door, with proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia. Fans can get in for free by picking up free tickets which are available to anyone at numerous Columbia area businesses. There is no charge for MU students.

Additionally, Tiger fans are invited to see Mizzou practice at the Hearnes Center on the following dates: Oct. 21st (11 a.m.), Oct. 28th (10 a.m.) and Nov. 4th (10 a.m.). All of those practices are open to the public.
