Missouri-Kansas Football Game Set for 1:00 p.m.

Oct. 4, 2000

COLUMBIA, Mo.- Kickoff for the Missouri-Kansas football game on Oct. 14 has been set for 1:00 p.m. CST at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field. The game will not be televised, as it was not picked up by either ABC Sports or Fox Sports Net.

The University of Missouri's Department of Athletics and the Missouri Alumni Association worked hand-in-hand to come up with the best possible kickoff time considering all of the festivities surrounding Homecoming on campus.

"We tried to be as responsive and receptive as possible to as many of the folks that are involved in the Homecoming festivities," said Todd Coleman, Executive Director of the Missouri Alumni Association.

Since the football game was not chosen for television, the University of Missouri was able to dictate the kickoff time. Director of Athletics Mike Alden was quick to point out that as nice as it is this year for the University to be able to determine the game time, it may not be the same next year.

"We all know and understand that in the Big 12 Conference, television is the ultimate determining factor in game times," said Alden.

It will be Homecoming at the University of Missouri and it will mark the first time in 40 years that the Tigers have hosted Kansas on Homecoming. The last time the two schools met on Missouri's Homecoming was in 1960.
