Lincoln, Neb. - The University of Missouri women's golf team opened its 2000 fall season today at the Alltel Husker Invitational, held at Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln, Neb. The Tiger women find themselves in fourth place in the 17-team tournament after the first two rounds of play, with a two-round team score of 619. The final round of play gets underway tomorrow morning.
Host Nebraska leads all teams with a two-round team score of 601. Just two shots back is Oklahoma (603), followed by Texas Tech (618) and MU (619). Minnesota rounds out the top five, at 622.
Individually for Head Coach Tom Loyd's squad, senior Jamie Tucker led the way. Tucker shot rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 total which left her tied for 5th place overall, seven shots back of leader Sarah Sasse of Nebraska, who leads all competitors with a 144 total.
Just one shot behind Tucker is defending Big 12 Champion Amelia Moses. The junior out of Coronationville, South Africa is tied for 8th place individually after rounds of 74 and 78 left her with a 152 total.
Sophomore Elin Ohlsson shot rounds of 77 and 82 for a two-round total of 159, which left her tied for 32nd place overall. Two shots back of her was Tiger freshman Tara Jacobsen, who shot scores of 81 and 80 in her first collegiate outing. Jacobsen's two-round total of 161 leaves her in a tie for 41st place heading into tomorrow's final round of play.
Rounding out the Missouri contingent is junior Nisha Sadekar, who is tied for 43rd place after rounds of 84 and 78 left her with a total of 162.
