Big 12 All-Star Team Wins Fifth Straight

Kapfenberg, Austria - The Big 12 Men's Basketball All-Stars upped their record to 5-0 with a 97-62 win over Kapfenberg Bears B.C. on Wednesday, Aug. 16.

The Big 12 squad outscored Kapfenberg 31-18 in the first quarter and 30-18 in the second quarter to roll to a 61-36 halftime lead in the rout.

Cliff Owens of Texas Tech had 15 points on seven-of-11 shooting, while Andre Williams of Oklahoma State had 12 in the winning effort.

Terry Black of Baylor, Quentin Buchanan of Kansas State, D.J. Harrison of Colorado and Iowa State's Jamaal Tinsley rounded out the double-digit scorers for the All-Stars.

With the win, the Stars assured themselves of finishing with the best All-Star record in conference history. The inaugural squad finished 4-2 on its 1998 tour of England, France, Belgium and Germany.

Kansas' Luke Axtell missed the game due to a groin pull suffered prior to Tuesday's contest.

The All-Stars play their final game on Thursday, Aug. 17, when they travel to St. P?lten, Austria, to take on 1999 Austrian National Champion UKJ Suba B.C. at 7 p.m. local time.
