Oberwart, Austria - Iowa State's Jamaal Tinsley hit a clutch free throw with 1.4 seconds left to give the Big 12 Men's Basketball All-Stars a hard-fought 92-88 win over the Oberwart Gunners on Tuesday, Aug. 15, to run the Stars' record to 4-0 on its European Tour.
"I wasn't nervous," said Tinsley. "Pressure bursts pipes. I knew we needed the free throw, so I just stepped up and hit it."
Tinsley had a stellar game, scoring 17 points and adding six assists and six steals with just one turnover.
Terry Black of Baylor had a great game from the floor, hitting six-of-eight field goal attempts for 13 points. Andre Williams of Oklahoma State was the big board-man for the Stars, pulling down six rebounds and chipping in seven points.
Kansas' Luke Axtell pulled a groin in warm-ups and did not see action. Dr. Mike Brager said that while the injury is not serious, he did say that Axtell will miss the next game.
The All-Stars returned to play on Wednesday, Aug. 16, when they travel to Kapfenberg, Austria, to take on the Kapfenberg Bears at 7 p.m. local time.
