Two Former Tigers to Tee It Up at U.S. Women's Open

July 6, 2000

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's golf team will be well-represented later this month in the U.S. Women's Open. Two former Tiger standouts will tee it up at the 55th U.S. Women's Open, which is set for July 20-23 at the Merit Club in Libertyville, Ill.

Former Tiger standout Stefanie Mitchell earned a spot in the championship after she finished second in a qualifier on June 14th in Scottsdale, Ariz. Playing at Tonto Verde Golf Club, Mitchell shot an even-par 72 to finish second and earn her way in to her first-ever Open appearance.

Also vying for the championship will be former Tiger Jennifer Feldott. Feldott is in her third year on the LPGA Tour, and will be making her third appearance at the Open. She finished tied for 60th at the 1999 Open (74-70-83-70=297), and missed the cut in 1998 (76-82=152).

Feldott is thriving in her third year on the tour, as she currently stands 87th on the money list for the 2000 season, with earnings of $52,266 (as of July 6th). She finished 84th on the money list in 1999, earning over $93,000, an improvement from her rookie season when she finished 125th on the money list with earnings of over $39,000.
