Two Missouri softball players were named to the All-Midwest Region second team today. Linda Swarts was named the second team shortstop and Stacy Gemeinhardt was named one of three second team outfielders.
Swarts finished the season with a .339 average, a .545 slugging percetage, 10 doubles, a triple and nine home runs. She led the team in doubles, home runs and RBI.
Gemeinhardt finished just below Swarts with a .337 average, seven doubles, nine triples and 26 RBI. She led the team in hits, at bats, runs, triples, walks and stolen bases. She had a .420 on base percentage and was the only Tiger to have more walks than strikeouts. She also finished the season with a perfect fielding percentage, including 52 putouts and five assists. This is the third consecutive year Gemeinhardt has received All-Region honors.
The All-Midwest Region teams are selected by the regional committee. All players selected on either the first or second team are eligible for All-America consideration.
