Lubbock, Texas - The University of Missouri women's golf team turned in a strong showing during Saturday's second round of the Big 12 Championships, and moved into fourth place. The Tigers shot the best team round of the day (298), and moved to within just five strokes of co-leaders Oklahoma State and Texas, who are tied for first at 598 through two rounds of play. The final round will be contested tomorrow at Lubbock Country Club.
Junior Amelia Moses fired an even-par 72 on the day, and claimed the lead heading into tomorrow's finale. Moses, who is looking to become MU's first-ever conference champion, leads the field with a two-round total of 145 (73-72=145). She holds a slim one-stroke lead over Jennifer Jones of Oklahoma, Sarah Sassee of Nebraska and Emma Zackrisson of Oklahoma State, who are all tied for second just one stroke back at 146.
Fellow junior Jamie Tucker continued her steady play, carding a four-over par 76 on Saturday, and found herself tied for 15th individually, with a two-round total of 151 (75-76=151).
Senior Tobi Probst improved by seven strokes on Saturday, as she fired a one-over par 73, after an opening-round 80. Probst is tied for 21st place heading into Sunday, with a two-round total of 153 (80-73=153).
Sophomore Nisha Sadekar is MU's fourth player among the top-25 in the field. Sadekar shot her second consecutive 77, and her 154 total (77-77=154) leaves her tied for 23rd after two rounds.
Freshman Elin Ohlsson rounds out the Missouri contingent, as she is tied for 48th place overall, with a two-round total of 163 (80-83=163).
Missouri's best-ever finish in the Big 12 Championships came back in 1997, when MU placed fourth.
